With many laptops eradicating CD/DVD drives all together, it seemed to make perfect sense to switch over to these great looking thumb drives. Sometimes, you don’t have to travel far to experience magic…

Danni contacted me over the 2012 Christmas period, whilst I was holidaying with my father in Europe. Danni explained that her and Luke really hadn’t thought about a photographer for their wedding in March of 2013 but after seeing my work, wondered whether I would be interested in photographing their reception for a few hours. After a few e-mails back and forth, we decided to get together upon my return to Adelaide. We met and quickly I was convinced that I wanted to photograph this couple’s entire day. Not only are they awesome to be around, Danni and Luke are that couple you look towards for a reminder that true love still exists. They have been together for a long time and although Luke’s squash career often kept them great distances apart, they have stood by one another and are now a testament to following your heart…

Danni and Luke wanted a day that focused on their friends and family and created such a heart felt and warm day, it is a story that is difficult to retell. This wedding was such a beautiful celebration, made unique by their amazing DIY approach. From their wedding cake, down to all the details of the reception everything was crafted by Dani and Luke themselves and a very talented George Damianos from Dam Productions; details of which can be found at the end of this post.

I felt so incredibly welcomed by everyone on the day and am so honored to have been a part of this wedding. Thank you so much for the memories and all the love shared guys.

Jolene and Brodie made the necessary arrangements and within a couple of weeks I was booked to share in their adventure. Boarding a cruise ship in Brisbane, having a beautiful engagement shoot in Lifou, New Caledonia and a wedding in Port Vila, Vanuatu the below post archives the week that was with this beautiful couple. I feel so blessed to have been so warmly welcomed into Jolene and Brodie’s life and friends for a week and am so pleased to be able to share their story…

The places we got to shoot at were simply epic but the fact that Jolene and Brodie were so relaxed about everything, simply made my job that much easier. I’ll definitely remember this wedding long into the future and am so stoked to now call Jolene and Brodie friends…

Adam and Jana’s wedding was a big affair that was made intimate by their wonderful families, heartfelt speeches, dancing and copious amounts of vodka…
Sometimes people ask me whether it is easier to photograph someone you have known for many years, or someone you have just met and in honesty I really think it makes little difference. From the moment I arrive, I try my best to be a non-intrusive spectator and capture the many magic moments that will inevitably unfold throughout the day and on this occasion there were many of them.

Although I am far from old, Adam and Jana reminded me of what it is like to be young. With the wind in your hair, your laughter will carry each other, to that place where you are standing, looking into each others eyes, knowing this kind of love is rare.

This incidentally is my biggest ever blog post, so perhaps get yourself a drink, relax, turn on some ‘Kings of Convenience’ and enjoy the wedding which was Adam and Jana’s…

Where do I begin with Nicole and Mark..? A couple who are so clearly meant for one another that simply being in their company gave me a glimpse into the reason for their love. We wedding photographers sometimes forget the unique privilege we are bestowed. It’s a job but it is also an unforgettable experience, moments shared, laughs enjoyed and friends gained.
Mark and Nicole created a wedding which was intrinsically personal and all together beautiful. Having known Nicole for a few years I was so pleased when she called me and asked if I would photograph her wedding. A few weeks ago, I flew to Melbourne and this is what happened…

So 2013 is well and truly here and I am soooo looking forward to all the photography that is going to come with it…

Last year, I reorganised the blog to have categories and improved site navigation but I have gone back again and simplified things. In typical ‘blog’ style I am going back to posts being immediately displayed and running in chronological order. Like many photographers, I am a story teller and it just seems more conducive to have the blog set up in this way. With more and more wedding requests coming in, over the next few weeks the emphasis here will be on weddings and engagements.  The various categories outside ‘weddings’ will most likely disappear and these alternate professional endeavors will be showcased on the website. Some other areas, such as info and testimonials will be added soon. There will still however be the occasional blog post that does not fall into the category of weddings.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who visits my blog either for the ‘words’ or the ‘images’ or perhaps both. Your appreciation and comments are what makes my job ever more rewarding, so share, like, pin what you want and I look forward to seeing what the year reveals…

It is difficult to explain how heart-felt, beautiful and perfectly truthful this wedding was. Over the course of the last several months leading up to this day, I have experienced an out pouring of kindness from both John and Kate and feel I have made two genuine and caring friends. Throughout the day, the whole family shared their love and joy to anyone around them, and made the event one of honesty and happiness. I am still remembering the many moments from this wedding and smiling at each of them.

Over the last few years I have thought in great depth about my wedding photography and how I want it to progress. My greatest inspiration at present is the incredibly talented Jonas Peterson, specifically his ability to be a magnificent story teller. It is some times difficult to express in words, what a wedding was like, so here is my perspective, my memory and my story from this beautiful and whimsical day.

Meet Adam and Jana…
This young couple is getting married next February and as their wedding photographer, I suggested we do an engagement shoot. I’ve known Adam since we were both little munchkins and Jana is lovely, so the day was super relaxed with beers and laughs throughout. That is not to say it was without its surprises however. There were two particular animals, comprising an Emu and a Kangaroo, that didn’t quite appreciate us on their territory and they made us well aware of it.
As a photographer I am always developing my processing methods and playing with new techniques. I don’t often go for a ‘vintage like’ feel but this series found me thinking the images would be conducive to experimenting with exactly that. In order to reach the desired effect in these shots I have used many more layers than ordinarily, minus the black and whites that is. All in all, a huge amount of work has gone into these photos and I am very proud of the results – hope you enjoy the set…

As we grow, we learn that regret exists not to stifle our progress but rather to serve as a reminder of how best we can serve this lifetime. Through sorrow there comes strength and through strength, perseverance and through perseverance, contentment. Live joyfully with the presence of love in your heart, for as long as we remember, nothing can be forgotten and the soul of a person lives on.
Today is my mother’s birthday and though she is gone the memory of her plays like a song.
With angels at your side and God’s grace ever strong, I will always be here to love you forever long…
