Jessica and Matthew’s Wedding
Jessica and Matthew tied the knot on the 10th of April 2011. As a photographer, the difficulty about this wedding was the fact that I had literally spent no time with the couple prior to the big day. Jessica knew my photography and inquired about my availability whilst I was still over seas and it was only by a matter of chance that I came back to Australia and in turn was able to photograph her big day.
From the get go, Jess was very relaxed about the entire process and through out our several conversations leading up to the wedding had very few requests and allowed me a lot of artistic license and freedom. The only one request, was for there to be a vintage feel to the photos. For myself, this was easier said than done. My normal style of photography is quite vibrant and working with muted and desaturated colours was a conscious process unlike what I am accustomed to.
The wedding itself was set in the beautiful Adelaide Hills and although the ceremony was scheduled to be outdoors, rain prevented that from happening and an alternate service was performed indoors. Throughout the day, Jess remained calm and happy, even with the on set of rain looming. Fortunately post ceremony, the heavens opened up, which allowed for some wonderful shots in the Mt. Lofty gardens.
